My name is Laura Wallace and I am an entrepreneur. This is how I got here...
I was born and raised in South-Central Pennsylvania. I attended Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts in York, PA in 2002, where I earned my Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. In 2006, I proudly received my Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute Online.
After three years in the yellow page design industry, I knew that wanted a job that had one to one interaction with the client. I had a son on the way and wanted to raise him while doing what I love. So, scared to death, I quit my full time job and went out on my own. I knew the opportunities were out there and I just had to go get them. I opened the doors to Worx Graphic Design in July 2007.
Although it seemed risky, it was the right thing to do. I wake up everyday with the fulfillment that I do what I love with my son by my side. Since taking the leap, I've taken my company worldwide, opened an amazing studio, and added the best designer I know to my team. I am passionate about what I do and hope to rub a little of that off into your business.
It should come as no surprise, but I love to create. Since I could pick up a crayon I have been creating art. My name is Amber Buhrman, and I am Laura's teammate in the world of design. As an undergraduate art student, I assisted in the gallery when artists set up shows, produced and edited the student art magazine, and worked closely with professors on a variety of projects for the art department. In the spring of 2005, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA from Shippensburg University. The summer after graduation I studied abroad in Spain, and traveled to every corner of the country learning from local artists and soaking up the culture. This is when I discovered that I truly love working with people.
After a few years of experience, I felt the need to take myself to the next level and get my MFA. I chose Full Sail University, a school that is known for students that have gone on to have successful careers in the design and entertainment industry for the past 30 years. In June of 2010, I graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Media Design. Not only is design important, it can really help a business grow and prosper if it is done correctly.
I am blessed to have a career that allows me to grow as a designer while caring for my daughter. I am passionate about design and using it to help people. I keep myself educated on the latest in the industry and am excited to use what I have learned to help others.
At a young age I began drawing, painting, and dreaming up creative doodles. I furthered my artistic talent at "The Art Institute of York, formally Bradley Academy" where I earned my Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. Today, I express my artistic talents through my vector drawings, graphic design and custom hand renderings. My favorite medium to work in is colored pencil, and I enjoy the technique of stipple using pen and ink. If you are looking for a personal touch let me give your advertising a little pizzazz with custom artwork.
